Phytochemical standardization of Cassia fistula (Pods) and evaluation of diuretic activity
Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the diuretic activity of Cassia fistula & the present study was carried out to investigate the diuretic activity of ethanol and aqueous extract of the pods of cassia fistula (CFEE), (CFAE) to make a herbal formulation & were administered to experiment wistar rats orally at the dose level of 100 mg/kg and compared with standard drug furosemide (20 mg/kg). The Lipschistz method used in rats for the experiment purpose. The Cassia fistula formulation showed a market level of increase in urine volume and electrolytes like Na+, K+, and Cl- ion concentration. The moderate diuretic effects was observed and significant diuretic effects from Cassia fistula formulation. Cassia fistula formulation (100 mg/kg) showed more diuretic effect than standard. This might be the first formal report on diuretic activity of cassia fistula plant.
