Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2024-25 at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Nagpur, to study the “Effect of topping and growth retardant on growth and yield of sunhemp (Crotalaria juncea L.)”. Result revealed that greatest decrease in plant height was observed at topping at 30 & 45 DAS, whereas topping at 30 DAS recorded significantly higher no. of secondary branches plant-1, no. of capsule plant-1, no. of seeds plant-1, seed yield plant-1 (g) and seed yield (kg ha-1) as compare to control. Among the growth retardant foliar spray of mepiquat chloride @ 500 ppm at 45 DAS recorded significantly higher no. of primary branches plant-1, dry matter accumulation plant-1(g), stover yield plant-1(g), stover yield (kg ha-1) and biological yield (kg ha-1) over control.
