Biocontrol strategies for sustainable soybean pest management

Abstract

The escalating use of chemical pesticides in soybean farming poses significant ecological and health challenges, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, India. This study investigates sustainable biocontrol strategies that integrate parasitoids, predators, and entomopathogenic fungi for soybean pest management, providing an alternative to conventional pesticide methods. Focused on the Indore region, the research evaluates the effectiveness and practicality of these biocontrol agents within Integrated Pest Management (IPM) frameworks. By analyzing the field efficacy, compatibility, and economic feasibility of various agents, the study demonstrates the potential of biocontrol as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution. The findings contribute to developing robust, region-specific pest management strategies aimed at reducing dependency on chemical inputs, promoting biodiversity, and safeguarding soil and crop health. This paper offers valuable insights for policymakers, agronomists, and farmers seeking to enhance soybean crop resilience through sustainable practices.
