Effect of mulching and vermicompost on growth, yield attributes and yield of clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.)

International Journal of Research in Agronomy · 2025 · Vol. 8(7) · pp. 767–771

Abstract

The field trial was carried out at Research farm of Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jagatpura (Jaipur) to evaluate the effect of mulching and vermicompost on clusterbean. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design using four mulches (Control, dust mulch, straw mulch and plastic mulch) four levels of vermicompost (0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 t/ha) with three replications. The result revealed that use of plastic mulch and vermicompost level up to 3.0 t/ha significantly improved the growth parameters, yield parameters and yield (1360 and 1309 kg/ha, respectively) of clusterbean. Therefore it was recommended for higher productivity of crop under semi arid conditions.
