Tehsil-wise trends in annual rainfall, maximum, and minimum temperature (1982–2021) using the Mann-Kendall test
Abstract
Climate variability and change have profound effects on agriculture, water resources, and ecosystems, making it essential to analyze long-term meteorological trends. This study investigates “Tehsil-wise trends in annual rainfall, maximum temperature, and minimum temperature from 1982 to 2021 in the Northern region of the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV) jurisdiction using the Mann-Kendall Test”. The results indicate a significant increasing trend in annual rainfall across most tehsils, except for Jamkhed, Karjat, Pathardi, and Shrigonda, which showed no significant changes. Annual maximum temperature exhibited a significant decreasing trend in 44 tehsils, while 13 showed no significant decline. Conversely, annual minimum temperature displayed a significantly increasing trend in all tehsils except Raver. These findings highlight regional climatic variations, with rising rainfall and minimum temperatures suggesting increased warming, particularly during nighttime. The study offers key insights for policymakers to tailor climate adaptation in agriculture, water management, and infrastructure.
