Retention of bioactive compound in lime leaves powder

Abstract

Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swingle, commonly known as Kagzi lime in India, is widely used for its health benefits in many countries. In this study, an attempt was made to analyze the bioactive content of lime leaf powder obtained through different drying methods, including tray drying, fluidized bed drying at 50 °C, 60 °C, and 70 °C, and greenhouse drying at 45-55 °C. The results showed that fluidized bed drying at 50 °C was the most effective method for retaining the maximum amount of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and antioxidant activity. Among all drying methods, fluidized bed drying at 50 °C produced the highest antioxidant activity. Additionally, as the drying temperature increased from 50 °C to 70 °C, the total phenolic content was found to be higher in samples dried using the fluidized bed dryer.
