The application of phosphorus and sulphur significantly influences the nutrient profile and absorption efficiency in Mothbean Plants

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the Kharif season of 2024 at the Research Farm of Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur (Rajasthan), on loamy sand soil. The study involved four phosphorus levels (15, 30, 45, and 60 kg P₂O₅ ha⁻¹) and four sulphur levels (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha⁻¹), forming a total of 16 treatment combinations. These treatments were laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications. Results indicated that the application of 60 kg P₂O₅ ha⁻¹ significantly increased the nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulphur content and their uptake in both seed and straw of mothbean. Similarly, applying 60 kg sulphur ha⁻¹ resulted in the highest N, P, and S content and uptake in seed and straw, with the response being statistically at par with the application of 40 kg sulphur ha⁻¹.
