Response of plant bioregulators on growth and yield of okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]

Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Response of Plant Bioregulator on Growth and Yield of Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]” was done at the Institutional Farm, Department of Agriculture (Horticulture), Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Mewar University, Gangrar, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan during the Kharif season of 2024. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 10 treatments comprising three replications each. The treatment combination comprised to T1 (Control); T2 (Paclobutrazol @ 150 ppm); T3 (Paclobutrazol @ 250 ppm); T4 (Paclobutrazol @ 300 ppm); T5 (Ethrel @ 100 ppm); T6 (Ethrel @ 200 ppm); T7 (Ethrel @ 300 ppm); T8 (Cycocel @ 200 ppm); T9 (Cycocel @ 400 ppm) and T10 (Cycocel @ 600 ppm). During experiment Arka Anamika was tested. The overall results obtained from this present investigation clearly revealed that the application of T10 (Cycocel @ 600 ppm) showed the better performance for vegetative growth viz., plant height (153.19 cm), number of branches per plant (24.53 branches) at 90 DAS, days to 50% flowering (48.00 days) and days to first fruiting (49.67 days), yield attributes viz., The maximum number of fruits per plant (35.00 fruits),The maximum fruit setting percent (95.47%), The greatest fruit length, measuring 18.27 cm, The greatest fruit diameter, measuring 2.23 cm Number of fruits per plant (35.00 fruits), fruit length (18.27 cm), fruit weight (17.97 grams), fruit yield (142.81 q/ha) of okra. T10 also recorded highest net return (Rs 2, 99,728 per hectare) and benefit cost ratio (3.33).
