Effect of weed control techniques on growth of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.)

Abstract

A field experiment titled “Effect of Weed Control Techniques on Yield of Indian Mustard (Brassica juncea)” was conducted during the Rabi season of 2024-25 at the Agronomy Research Farm, Rama University, India. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of various weed management practices on yield, nutrient uptake, weed flora, and economic returns in mustard cultivation. The experiment consisted of 12 treatments laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications, including herbicides (pre- and post-emergence), hand weeding, and paddy straw mulch applications. Results indicated that hand weeding at 20 and 40 days after sowing (T₁₁) significantly improved plant height, number of branches, dry matter accumulation.
