Scaling up scientific dairy farming practices: A comparative analysis of beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of farmers farm school in Karnal, Haryana

Abstract

This study explores the scaling up of scientific dairy farming practices among beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of the Farmers Farm School (FFS) in Karnal, Haryana. Four key areas breeding, feeding, health care, and management were evaluated to measure the extent of adoption. A sample of 120 farmers (60 beneficiaries and 60 non-beneficiaries) was selected from four villages. The results indicate that FFS beneficiaries exhibit significantly higher adoption rates across all components, with overall adoption scores of 73.61% for beneficiaries and 40.06% for non-beneficiaries. The study concludes that the Farmers Farm School has played a critical role in promoting the adoption of scientific practices, thereby improving the productivity and management of dairy farms.
