A study on performance of large-scale Adivasi multi-purpose cooperative societies in Karnataka
Abstract
The present study was conducted in Karnataka state during the year 2022-23, to assess the performance of LAMPS. Among 23 functioning LAMPS ten LAMPS were selected for the study based on highest membership. The results of the study indicated that exactly half of the selected LAMPS (50.00%) had medium level of overall performance followed by high (30.00%) and low (20.00%). Cent per cent of LAMPS performed activities like agricultural input supply, rotation of executive body, conduct of meetings, auditing of accounts and book keeping and documentation. Procurement of NTFP, marketing of NTFP and storage facility for NTFPs was taken up by 90.00 per cent of the LAMPS. But only one LAMPS (10.00%) had taken up branding of NTFPs.
