Relationship between profile and job performance of village agriculture assistants of Rythu Bharosa Kendras in Andhra Pradesh

Abstract

The study investigated the relationship between profile characteristics and job performance of Village Agriculture Assistants (VAAs) of Rythu Bharosa Kendras in Andhra Pradesh. Ex-post facto research design was adopted in this study. A total of 90 respondents were randomly selected with 10 respondents each from nine randomly selected mandals of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh state and the data were collected by conducting personal interview of each of the respondent with the help of pre-tested interview schedule. Correlation co-efficient and multiple linear regression were used to analyse the data. The computed correlation values indicate that the independent variables job experience, mass media exposure, training received, organizational climate, job involvement, achievement motivation, level of aspiration and organizational commitment had a positive and significant relationship with the job performance of Village Agriculture Assistants. Rural urban background had a negative and significant relationship with the job performance. The variables gender and educational qualification had positive and non-significant correlation with the job performance. The variable marital status had negative and non-significant relationship with job performance. The selected independent variables put together contributed 71.31 per cent of the total variation in the job performance of VAAs leaving the rest 28.69 per cent to the extraneous factors.
