Effect of nutrient management in kharif groundnut-chickpea cropping sequence on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of kharif groundnut under organic farming
Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during kharif and rabi season of 2023-24 and 2024-25 at D-4 Certified Organic Farming Plot of Instructional Farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh (Gujarat) on medium black calcareous soil to study the effect of nutrient management in kharif groundnut-chickpea cropping sequence on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of kharif groundnut under organic farming. The experiment was laid out in split plot design in groundnut crop with twenty-seven treatment combinations in which nine levels of nutrient management in kharif groundnut as main plot and three levels of nutrient management in chickpea as sub-plot. Application of 100% RDN through vermicompost + panchgavya @ 4% spray at 30 and 60 DAS gave significantly higher growth attributes, yield attributes, pod yield (2680 kg/ha), haulm yield (4288 kg/ha) and protein content in kernel of groundnut. Growth attributes, yield attributes, yield and quality of groundnut remained unaffected due to nutrient management in chickpea under organic farming.
