Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during Kharif season 2024 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with ten treatments which are replicated thrice on the basis of one year experimentation. The treatments consisted of T1-21 days age of seedlings+ 60% of RDN (72kg Nitrogen/ha),T2-21 days age of seedlings+ 80% of RDN (96 kg Nitrogen/ha),T3-21 days age of seedlings+ 100% of RDN (120kg Nitrogen/ha),T4-24 days age of seedlings+ 60% of RDN (72kg Nitrogen/ha),T5-24 days age of seedlings+ 80% of RDN (96kg Nitrogen/ha),T6-24 days age of seedlings+ 100% of RDN (120kg Nitrogen/ha),T7-27 days age of seedlings+ 60% of RDN (72kg Nitrogen/ha),T8-27 days age of seedlings+ 80% of RDN (96kg Nitrogen/ha),T9-27 days age of seedlings+ 100% of RDN (120kg Nitrogen/ha),T10-Control (120:60:60) NPK kg/ha. The results revealed that Maximum No.of tillers/hill (17.77), plant dry weight/hill (98.51 g), no. of filled grains/panicle (135.07), effective tillers/m2(373.7), grain yield(4.32t/ha) and stover yield (7.18 t/ha),was recorded highest with treatment 2 [21 days age of seedlings+ 80% of RDN (96 kg Nitrogen/ha] However highest plant height (77.35cm) recorded in Treatment 8 [27 days age of seedlings+ 80% of RDN (96 kg Nitrogen/ha], highest panicle length were recorded (19.83 cm) in treatment 7 [27 days age of seedlings+ 60% of RDN (72 kg Nitrogen/ha),] maximum unfilled grains per panicle (12.67) in treatment 4 [24 days age of seedlings+ 60% of RDN (72 kg Nitrogen/ha), highest harvest index (37.85) in treatment 3 [21 days age of seedlings+ 100% of RDN (120kg Nitrogen/ha)].
