Crafting a potent vitamin c serum for radiant and healthy skin

Abstract

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a renowned antioxidant extensively used in dermatological formulations due to its ability to neutralize free radicals, promote collagen synthesis, and improve skin luminosity. This study aims to develop a potent, stable, and effective vitamin C serum specifically designed to promote radiant and healthy skin. The formulation process focused on addressing common challenges such as instability, oxidation, and skin irritation. L-ascorbic acid, considered the most bioavailable form of vitamin C, was selected at an optimal concentration of 15%, balanced with a pH between 3.0-3.5 to enhance skin absorption while maintaining tolerability. To stabilize the active compound, antioxidants like ferulic acid and vitamin E (tocopherol) were incorporated, creating a synergistic effect that improves both potency and shelf life. A hyaluronic acid base was used to ensure adequate hydration and improve dermal penetration. The serum underwent preliminary evaluations including stability testing, skin compatibility assessments, and a short-term user trial. Participants reported visible improvements in skin brightness, texture, and even tone within four weeks, with minimal adverse effects. The study concludes that a well-balanced, antioxidant-rich vitamin C serum can serve as an effective, non-invasive skincare solution for enhancing skin health and appearance.
