Nutritional composition of diploid (AA & AB) and triploid (AAA) banana genotypes

Abstract

Nutritional composition of diploid and triploid banana genotypes were estimated at ICAR-AICRP on Fruits, K.R.C. College of Horticulture, Arabhavi during 2018-19. The results revealed that, the results revealed that highest beta carotene was found to be maximum in Namarai (29.56 μg/100 g) and lowest beta carotene content was found in Anaikomban (24.99 μg/100 g) among AA group. In AB group, significant difference was noticed with respect to beta carotene content and it was ranged from 31.35μg/100 g (Aktoman) to 34.64 μg/100 g (Ney Poovan) with mean value of 24.42 μg/100 g. Dwarf Cavendish (24.46 mg/g) recorded maximum protein content which was followed by Grand Naine (19.50 mg/g) while, minimum was noticed in Yangambi KM-5 (11.30 mg/100 g) among AAA group. among AA group, significant differences were observed between genotypes for crude fiber content, it was ranged from 7.55 per cent (Anaikomban) to 18.59 per cent (Pisang Lilin) with a mean value of 13.28 per cent however in AB group also, significant differences were observed and it was ranged from 6.36 per cent (Kunnan) to 15.42 per cent (Ney Poovan) with a mean value of 8.15 per cent.
