Comparative efficacy evaluation of polyherbal liver concentrate premix on low energy diet in broilers during summer

Abstract

The goal of this study was to look at how taking a mix of herbal supplements affects a diet with the same amount of protein but lower energy during the summer. Three hundred sixty-day-old male and female chicks were randomly allocated into six identical groups. Three control groups, designated as C, E4, and E8, were provided with a recommended isoprotein diet containing standard metabolisable energy (ME), with energy levels reduced by 4% and 8%, respectively, without Superliv supplementation. The other three groups, called TC, TE4, and TE8, were given diets with the right amount of crude protein (CP) and had 4% and 8% less metabolisable energy (ME), respectively, along with Superliv concentrate feed premix added. The birds were raised under uniform environmental and management settings in a deep litter system during summer months. Superliv supplementation in broilers at 500 g per tonne of feed from 0 to 42 days of age resulted in considerably increased average body weights compared to the corresponding control groups. The liver tonic treatment groups showed elevated liveability. According to body weight in the sixth week and feed conversion ratio, metabolic energy in the diet can be safely lowered by up to 4% without adverse effects when supplemented with Superliv. It can be concluded that Superliv polyherbal liver tonic feed premix, when added to broiler diets that are already low in energy and subjected to the chronic heat stress of the summer, significantly improves growth performance and feed efficiency.
