Advancing root canal treatment success: Knowledge, attitude and practice based survey about the use of intracanal irrigant activation technique among practising dentists in and around south Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Abstract
Introduction: The root canal system is exceedingly complicated, with additional canals, lateral canals, connections, and various exit points. Root canal irrigation plays an important role in disinfecting these areas of canal. Most of the studies showed that some parts of root canal surface remind untouched by instruments after cleaning and shaping procedures. Various irrigant activation techniques are being used nowadays to improve the delivery and efficiency of root canal irrigants. Aim: The aim of this survey was to determine the use of Intracanal Irrigant Activation Techniques (IAT) among practising dentists in and around South Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Study design: A cross-sectional survey. Methodology: Study Subject: Practising dentist in and around South Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Data Collection: A validated questionnaire is circulated among 150 practising dentists in and around South Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Results: The survey shows most of the participants knows about IAT but among them only few of the dentists uses in their daily routine.
