Postural outcomes of mat-based Pilates with Egoscue exercise and lumbar stabilization exercises in asymptomatic individuals with lumbar hyperlordosis

Abstract

Objectives: Lumbar hyperlordosis is a developing disorder having increased concavity in Posterior side. Correcting lumbar hyperlordosis will give impact to reduce the stress on spine also preventing back pain and back problems. Methodology: 20 subjects with asymptomatic lumbar hyperlordosis were randomly divided into Pilates with Egoscue group and Lumbar stabilization group. Outcomes parameters used in this study were index of lumbar lordosis, pelvic tilt and exercise performance tolerance. Group A- Mat Pilates with Egoscue exercise Group B- Lumbar stabilization exercise Results: The paired ‘t’ test shows significant improvement in both Mat Pilates with Egoscue group and Lumbar stabilization group. The unpaired ‘t’ test shows significant improvement in Mat Pilates with Egoscue group than Lumbar stabilization group. Conclusion: Mat Pilates with Egoscue groups were greater benefits than Lumbar stabilization group in correction of Lumbar hyperlordosis.
