Abstract

Grounded in a human-centered stance, society 5.0 stems and streams to grasp the technological momentum to solve the societal evils and revamp the foundations for better humankind in the era of industry 4.0 by uniting cyberspace and tangible space. To shape and expand the research arena of society 5.0, this study strives to methodically and meticulously review the literature on the theme of society 5.0 and structure the multiple knowledge dimensions by exploring the breadth and depth of previous literature. Embracing a bibliometric review approach using the database of Scopus serves as the groundwork for providing retrospective and introspective insights concerning the development of the aforesaid research field. Specifically, the findings of bibliometric analysis stipulate the advances and progression of the research theme by analyzing the publication trends, keyword co-occurrences, countries’ scientific production, and many such bibliometric indicators like the most productive journals through Bradford’s Law, the most relevant authors through Lotka’s Law, and the most impactful documents, hence producing a big picture of previous research. Besides ascertaining the knowledge configuration, this kind of bibliometric review would also aid in creating value in terms of quantification of the research development in the sphere of super smart society, or society 5.0.
