The evolution of immunotherapeutics: Mechanisms, milestones, and the path ahead

Abstract

The scientific practice of treating diseases via immunomodulation, or immunotherapeutics, has transformed medicine throughout the past 20 years. A variety of therapeutic approaches, including monoclonal antibodies, checkpoint inhibitors, vaccinations, cytokines, and cell-based treatments, are included in immunotherapeutics; as a result, it provides very targeted and frequently less harmful therapy options. The review addresses the contemporary developments in cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infectious illnesses, outlines the fundamental ideas of immunotherapeutic treatments, and looks at issues with accessibility, toxicity, and efficacy. The paper's conclusion offers a picture of customized medicine and innovative delivery systems that will shape this rapidly expanding field's future.
