Response of wheat varieties to different irrigation scheduling and herbicides application on NPK content and uptake in grain and straw under zero tillage practice

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted at soil research farm of Choudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, during Rabi season of 2022-23 and 2023-24 in spilt- split plot design having three replication. The effect of different wheat varieties, irrigation levels and herbicides application on NPK content in grain and straw was found non-significant under zero tillage practice whereas the effect of different wheat varieties, irrigation levels and herbicides application on NPK uptake by grain and straw was found significant under zero tillage practice. The highest nitrogen uptake (104.68 kg/ha and 117.36 kg/ha), phosphorous uptake (11.20 kg/ha and 13.17 kg/ha) and potassium uptake (26.87 kg/ha and 29.94 kg/ha) was recorded in variety WH 1184 in both year. In case of different irrigation levels the highest nitrogen uptake (99.05 kg/ha and 106.81 kg/ha), phosphorous uptake (9.85 kg/ha and 11.62 kg/ha) and potassium uptake (25.41 kg/ha and 27.67 kg/ha) was recorded when applied with five irrigation as compared to other irrigation levels. The maximum nitrogen uptake (106.56 kg/ha and 117.19 kg/ha), phosphorous uptake (11.71 kg/ha and 13.22 kg/ha) and potassium uptake (29.57 kg/ha and 30.65 kg/ha) was recorded when sprayed with pinoxaden + carfentrazone at the rate of 50+20g/ha but the minimum NPK uptakewas recorded in weedy check.
