Socio-economic impact of technologies on rural women in Haryana

Abstract

This study explores the impact of technological adoption on the role and status of rural women in Haryana, using a structured interview schedule with a sample size of 360 respondents across the districts of Kurukshetra and Mahendragarh. The findings reveal that technological interventions have led to significant improvements in social development, particularly in mutual respect, health, and education (WMS=2.87, 2.61), reflecting enhanced empowerment and well-being. Cultural advancement is also notable, with high levels of community coordination and recreational engagement (WMS=2.76, 2.67), suggesting a strengthened social fabric. While environmental practices such as improved land use and conservation show positive effects (WMS=2.15), regional disparities, especially in Mahendragarh, indicate the need for localized support. Economic outcomes remain inconsistent—though income and yield gains show promise (WMS=2.19, 2.11), limited access to subsidies (WMS=1.77) underscores systemic barriers to financial inclusion.
