Abstract

An experiment on “Performance of Ridge gourd (Luffa acutangula L) Hybrid genotypes on growth, yield and quality” was conducted during March-May, 2024 in Horticulture Research Field, Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj, UP, India. The result of the investigation regarding the performance of the 12 genotypes of Ridge gourd i,e, AVT-I-2022/RIGHYBD-1, AVT-I-2022/RIGHYBD-3, AVT-I-2022/RIGHYBD-4, AVT-I-2022/RIGHYBD-5, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-6, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-7, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-8, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-9, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-10, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-11, AVT-II-2021/RIGHYBD-12, obtained from IIVR, Varanasi & G-12 KAREENA (Check variety) obtained from Japan Bio seeds Company to find out the best performance in terms of growth and yield and quality in Prayagraj conditions. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 replications. From the present investigation it had concluded that Ridge gourd genotype AVT II/2021/RGHYBD-12 was recorded maximum Average yield/plant (4.33kg/plant), average fruit/hectare (177.13q/ha), average fruit/hectare (38.43t/ha), average fruit length (23.26cm),average fruit weight (186.93g) and the highest B:C with 5:0 which was found to be productive and economically viable.
