Lower extremity-squat press strength male wrestling players

Abstract

This study examined the impact of two different strength training interventions traditional weight training and theraband resistance training on lower-body strength in state-level male wrestlers aged 15 to 23. Forty-five participants were randomly assigned to three groups: Group A (weight training + routine training), Group B (theraband training + routine training), and Group C (routine training only). Over an 8-week period, the experimental groups engaged in structured training sessions three times per week, each lasting 40-45 minutes. Lower-body strength was assessed using the squat press test before and after the intervention. The T-test was used for the intragroup comparison and Ancova was used for the intergroup comparison. The significance level was set at 0.05. Results showed statistically significant improvements within both Group A and Group B (P=0.000), while no significant changes were observed in the control group (P=0.450). However, post-test intergroup comparisons did not yield statistically significant differences (P=0.727). These findings indicate that both weight training and theraband-based resistance training effectively improve lower-body strength in wrestlers, though neither method demonstrated superiority over the other in this study.
