Identification and confirmation of Culex pipiens using DNA Barcoding

Abstract
The goal of the current investigation was to confirm the collected Culex pipiens mosquitoes to the species level and to identify them. The COI gene specific forward and reverse primers were employed to amplify the mt DNA COI gene of the Culex mosquitoes that were sampled in order to assess the molecular taxonomy and phylogeny. BLAST software from NCBI was used for bioinformatics analysis. It was determined that Culex pipiens was the current Culex species based on DNA barcoding information.
