Tuber ischium fracture causing sciatic entrapment treated with endoscopic release and fragment resection: A case report

Abstract

Case:41 years old male with ahistory of traumatic ischial injury 27 years prior presented with Deep GlutealSyndrome (DGS). The patient underwent endoscopic sciatic nerve release and openexcision of the ischial fragment. Physical therapy and chronic pain medicationswere administered postoperatively, leading to excellent outcomes. Conclusion:DGS is a rare conditioncharacterized by the entrapment of the sciatic nerve and surrounding structuresin the gluteal region, resulting in inflammation and pain. Surgical proceduressuch as endoscopic release of the sciatic nerve and resection of bony fragmentscan effectively alleviate the symptoms associated with DGS.
