Four new Coenosia species from the Afrotropical Region (Diptera: Muscidae)

Abstract

The study of unidentified Coenosia specimens originating from African countries revealed four new species, Coenosia lwiroa spec.nov.and Coenosia ovalia spec.nov.from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Coenosia tarsomera spec.Nov from Madagascar belong to the Coenosia semifumosa species group sensu van Emden.Coenosia merua spec.Nov from Kenya, however, belongs to the Coenosia calopoda species-group sensu van Emden.The new spcies are described and distinguished from similar species.
