Phytochemical profile of Justicia adhatoda L. and Justicia betonica L. (Acanthaceae) leaf extracts by GC-MS
Abstract
Justicia adhatoda L.& Justicia betonica L. are well-known medicinal plants belonging to family Acanthaceae (Ahmad, Holdsworth, 2003). Justicia betonica L. having alkaloid like Jusbetonin (V. Subbaraju & et al, 2000) and presence flavonoids were confirmed by Khan et al., 2018, So Present investigation was undertaken on GC-MS analysis of the leaf extracts of Justicia adhatoda L. & Justicia betonica L. in Acetone solvent. For phytochemical study plant specimens were collected from Gautala Wildlife Sanctuary, Tal. Kannad Dist. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, (Aurangabad) and Botanical Garden of MSS’s Art’s Commerce & Science College, Ambad, Dist. Jalna respectively. The plants were identified by Following Naik, (1998). The phytochemical profile shows Tridecanal, Pentadecanal, Ambrocine which are used in treatment of cough and Retinal chemical used to enhance visibility of eyes.
