Studies on pre-harvest treatment of growth regulators, salt and biocontrol agent on quality and shelf life of grapes (Vitis vinifera) cv. Manjri Naveen
Abstract
The present investigation was to find effective pre harvest spray combination to maintain post-harvest quality and shelf life of grapes cv. Manjri Naveen. The pre harvest sprays viz., T1: NAA 100 ppm; T2: Salicylic acid 4 mM; T3: Ca(NO3)2 (1%) T4: B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T5: NAA 100 ppm + Ca(NO3)2 (1%); T6: NAA 100 ppm + B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T7: Salicylic acid 4 mM + Ca(NO3)2 (1%); T8: Salicylic acid 4 mM + B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T9: Ca(NO3)2 (1%) + B amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T10: NAA 100 ppm + Ca(NO3)2 (1%) + B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T11: Salicylic acid 4 mM + Ca(NO3)2 (1%) + B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L); T12: Control; were sprayed on the stipulated day, harvested, packed in CFB boxes, and stored under refrigerated condition (5±1˚C and 85-90% RH). Grape bunches sprayed with T10 recorded minimum PLW (2.76%), berry drop (1.96%), maximum firmness (26.97 N), and overall acceptability score (8.46) bunches sprayed with salicylic acid 4 mM + Ca(NO3)2 (1%) + B. amyloliquefaciens (10 ml/L) recorded maximum rachis freshness (8.16) and minimum disease score (0.50). These treatments were found effective in maintaining 5 days more shelf life compared to the control.
