Effect of phytosome complex of phosphatidylcholine and silymarin on broiler growth performance and carcass traits in broilers

Abstract

High performing hybridrnbroilers need high-energy diets to match their full genetic potential. Oil andrnfats as high-energy sources are regularly used in diet to meet his requirement.rnLiver health has been paramount importance for effective energy and nutrientrnutilization in broilers. Unutilised fat often accumulate in liver resulting inrnfatty liver syndrome. Choline is one of the major ingredient that help inrnmobilisation of excess fat from liver. Silymarin is also used asrnhepato-protective ingredient. rnThis study was conducted to seek synergistic effect of herbalrnformulation containing phytosome complex of phosphatidylcholine and silymarinrnon growth performance and carcass traits in commercial broiler chickens. Totalrnof 360-day-old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into three treatmentsrnwith six replicates of twenty chicks each. Treatment groups were fed basal dietrnwith no added natural choline supplement (T0), basal diet withrnherbal formulation containing natural Choline supplement @ 500g per tonne ofrnfeed (T1), basal diet with herbal formulation containing phytosomerncomplex of phosphatidylcholine and silymarin supplement @ 500g per tonne ofrnfeed (T2).
