Abstract

The use of pesticides and fertilizers in modern agriculture has a significant negative impact on the environment, primarily due to the accumulation of toxic residues in the food chain and animal feed. This contamination can lead to numerous health problems, posing risks to both human and animal well-being. As a result of these adverse effects, the farming community is becoming more aware of alternative agricultural systems, such as organic farming, which offer more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. This review paper aims to explore the various challenges and opportunities associated with adopting organic farming. The consequences of the Green Revolution have motivated farmers to shift toward organic agricultural practices. This paper examines the global and Indian perspectives on organic farming, highlighting its status and future potential.
