Banana flour drink consumption enhances anaerobic performance in sprinters

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the beneficial effect of banana flour drink on anaerobic performance in short-distance sprinters (100-400 meters). The study protocol was a crossover design with two test sessions spaced one week apart and a double-blind method between the Banana Four Drink and the placebo protocols. The sprinter group consisted of 19 healthy sprinters with an average age of 20.11±1.20 years. Each sprint underwent the Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST), which involved six 35-meter sprints at maximal speed to assess anaerobic power, anaerobic capacity, and% fatigue index. Sprinters were randomly assigned to consume either a banana flour drink or a placebo. The banana flour drink product of 250 mL consisted of banana flour (20g), Bros Michel banana (10 g), cocoa powder (5 g), whey protein (20 g), honey (5 g), soy milk (240 mL), and ice (25 g). The banana flour drink product, except for banana flour, was the sole ingredient in the placebo product.
