Response of biofertilizers and organic manure on yield attributes, yield and quality of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus l. Moench)
Abstract
The field experiment was conducted to study the effect of biofertilizers and organic manure on yield attributes, yield and quality of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) at the Seed Science Research Center, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand, during the kharif season of 2019. The experiment was designed in Randomized Block Design with three replication and eight treatments. The treatments were T1-Control, T2-Pseudomonas, T3-Azotobactor, T4-Neem cake, T5-Pseudomonas + Azotobactor, T6-Pseudomonas + Neem cake, T7-Azotobactor + Neem cake, T8-Pseudomonas + Azotobactor + Neem cake. The results revealed that the application of Azotobactor + Neem cake recorded the significantly highest weight of fruit (13.87g), fruit length (23.16cm), diameter of fruit (19.10mm), number of fruits per plant (25.56), number of picking (9.10), yield per plant (281.47g), yield per plot (5.96kg), yield per hectare (140.82q), total soluble solids (14.800Brix), protein (16.60%), ascorbic acid (18.97mg/100g), moisture (77.12%) and crude fiber (15.46%) of okra over control. However, T7 (Azotobactor + Neem cake) remain at par with T8 (Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Neem cake) in yield attributes, yield and quality of okra. From the study, it can be inferred that the combined application of biofertilizers (Azotobactor) and organic manure (Neem cake) can be used to increase the yield attributes, yield and quality of okra variety Arka Anamika.
