Soil quality under different land uses in Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, India

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the current state of soil fertility and find out why it is essential for expanding food production in order to meet the growing demands of the worldwide population. There were four soil samples taken from the different area in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, India. These samples were taken from different zones of the city based on the pattern of land use and land cover. The vast majority of the soil samples were sandy in composition, and soils with low moisture content have the potential to promote soil erosion, making them unsuitable for agricultural and industrial activity. Agricultural soil that contains a large amount of sand, silt, and low nutrient availability may result in a loss in crop production and is not suited for agricultural use. It is possible that this is the explanation for the persistent use of chemical fertilizers and the use of poor farming technologies. The yield of crops can be boosted by the use of organic farming and crop rotation.
