Study of Aseel chicken egg quality characteristics

Abstract

Research was carried out at ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad to characterize Aseel breed of chicken for egg quality traits. At 40 weeks of age, a number of egg quality metrics were examined. The average egg weight (g), yolk color, yolk width (mm), albumen length (mm), albumen width (mm), shape index, Haugh unit, yolk height, yolk weight (g), albumen weight (g), shell weight (g), and shell thickness (mm) were, respectively, 45.40±0.28, 6.58±0.12, 39.83±0.14, 79.38±0.54, 60.43±0.40, 78.22±0.72, 70.28±1.21, 19.03±0.16, 14.14±0.09, 18.99±0.26, 4.26±0.04, and 0.36.
