Pharmacological potential of bark of Punica granatum [Pomegranate] against kidney stone

Abstract

Punica granatum L. (Pomegranate), from the Punicaceae family, is known for its medicinal uses across various medical systems. Different parts of the plant, including seeds, peels, flowers, juice, and leaves, contain powerful bioactive compounds Pomegranate has been used for thousands of years to cure a wide range of diseases across different cultures and Pomegranates have been cultivated since ancient civilizations and are valued for their exceptional nutritional and medicinal properties. This fruit is rich in beneficial phytochemicals and offers numerous health benefits. Due to their wide distribution across the globe, pomegranates exhibit broad genetic diversity, which contributes to variations in their phytochemical composition. Punica granatum bark extract exhibited significant In-vitro antiurolithiatic activity.
