Population assessment of Mythimna spp through pheromone trap with relation to weather parameters

Abstract

Investigations on “Monitoring of Armyworm, Mythimna spp. (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) during Rabi season” were carried out at Agronomy Farm, MPUAT, Udaipur during Rabi season 2024-2025. The objectives were to evaluate the field population of Mythimna spp. through pheromone traps. The adult moth population of M. separata was recorded highest during 8th and 9th SW, Correlation between various weather parameters and the adult moth population of M. separata was found significant. The incidence of adult’s moth of M. separata during Rabi had a significantly positive correlation with the maximum temperature (r = 0.628*), minimum temperatures (r = 0.677*). percent plant infestation of M. separata was highest in 9th SW Correlation between various weather parameters and percent plant infestation was found significant. The percent pant infestation of M. separata during the Rabi had a significantly negative correlation with evening relative humidity (r =-0.580*) and had a non-significantly negative correlation with morning relative humidity (r =-0.363), rainfall (r =-0.104). The larval population of M. separata was highest in 8th SW.
