Assessment of correlation and path analysis in mungbean [Vigna radiata L. Wilczek.]

Abstract

The present investigation focused on correlation studies and path analysis in Vigna radiata L. Wilczek. Correlation analysis revealed that the traits such as days to 50% flowering, number of secondary branches per plant, and number of pods per plant exhibited significant positive correlations at the genotypic level. Additionally, a positive but non-significant correlation was observed between plant height and the number of primary branches, both at the genotypic and phenotypic levels. Path coefficient analysis indicated that several traits, including the number of pods per plant, 100-seed weight, harvest index, number of seeds per pod, number of secondary branches per plant, number of primary branches per plant, days to maturity, and days to 50% flowering, exerted a positive direct effect on seed yield.
