Impact of fermented organic matter and FYM on yield of rice under rice-wheat cropping system in a Vertisol

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2025 · Vol. 9(5) · pp. 385–390

Abstract

An investigation to assess the impact of fermented organic matter and FYM on yield of rice under rice-wheat cropping system in a Vertisol was carried out during the kharif seasons of 2022 and 2023 at Research cum Instructional Farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) The experiment was laid down in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with twelve treatments of rice which replicated thrice. The treatments in the rice were included T1 (control), T2 (100% RDF @ NPK 120:60:40 kg/ha), T3 (1 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK), T4 (2 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK), T5 (3 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK), T6 (4 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK), T7 (sole 8 t ha-1 FOM), T8 (2.5 t ha-1 FYM with adjusted NPK), T9 (5 t ha-1FYM with adjusted NPK), T10 (7.5 t ha-1 FYM with adjusted NPK), T11 (10 t ha-1 FYM with adjusted NPK) and T12 (sole 20 t ha-1 FYM). The result revealed that the effect of FOM and FYM significantly affects the growth and yield attributes i.e (plant height, number of effective tillers, panicle length, panicle weight, grains per panicle) of rice. The grain and straw yield of rice were significantly influenced by the application of FOM and FYM. In rice the grain yield was recorded maximum in 1 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK (67.22 q ha-1), 2 t ha-1 FOM with adjusted NPK (64.47 q ha-1), 2.5 t ha-1 FYM with adjusted NPK (64.93 q ha-1) and 5 t ha-1 FYM with adjusted NPK (64.61 q ha-1) which was found at par with T2 100% RDF (67.53 q ha-1). The lowest grain and straw yield were recorded under control (T1).
