An integrative review of the physical, physiological, and psychological profiles of team sport athletes: Implications for performance and talent identification

Abstract
Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative review approach to synthesize existing research findings relevant to athlete profiling in team sports. Eleven variables were identified for analysis based on their prominence in performance-related literature. The psychological variables include sports competition anxiety, achievement motivation, aggression, and self-concept. Physiological parameters assessed are body mass index (BMI), resting heart rate, reaction time, and vital capacity. Physical performance indicators include speed, agility, and leg explosive power.
