Abstract

Human health is impacted by the air quality in the environment. The air that over 1.4 billion people in cities throughout the world breathe does not meet WHO air quality criteria. It is estimated that exposure to outdoor air pollution causes between 200,000 and 570,000 deaths worldwide. According to published mortality and morbidity figures, respiratory illnesses and chronic disorders are common in Indian cities, which are among the most polluted in the world.
