Assessment of genetic variability, mean performance, and G×E stability in advanced rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes across diverse environments

Abstract

The experimental material comprised of 25 genotypes of rice which were evaluated for 11 quantitative traits under three different locations. The trials were laid out in RBD with three replications at Student’s Instructional Farm, Agronomy Research Farm and M.E.S. Farm of A.N.D.U.A.T., Kumarganj, Ayodhya. The analysis of variance for irrigated condition is pooled analysis of variance for three environments covering one crop seasons, revealed high significant mean squares for all the eleven characters under study. Considering the mean performance of genotypes for different environmental conditions, the genotypes exhibiting high mean performance for grain yield per plant. Grain yield per plant and leaf area index showed high PCV values (20%). L/B ratio, biological yield per plant, panicle length and productive tillers per plant had moderate PCV estimates (10% to 25%), while remaining five characters showed low PCV values (
