Smart breeding, also known as precision breeding, is an advanced plant breeding approach that integrates genomics, bioinformatics, high-throughput phenotyping, and artificial intelligence to develop improved crop varieties. This review explores the principles, technologies, applications, challenges, and future prospects of smart breeding in the context of global food security and sustainable agriculture.
