Effect of integrated use of inorganic fertilizer, organic amendment, and biofertilizer on chickpea growth and yield

Abstract

In areas where wheat is grown, nutrient management has been a significant issue, leading to low-quality output. At the research farm of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a field experiment was carried out in 2023-24 to assess the performance of integrated use of inorganic fertilizer, organic amendment, and biofertilizer on chickpea growth and yield. A randomised block design with seven treatments (T1: Control, T2: 100% RDF, T3: 100% RDF + 4 ton/ha FYM, T4: 100% RDF + ton/ha FYM + ZnSO4 @ 5 kg/ha, T5: 100% RDF + 4 ton/ha FYM + Rhizobium, T6: 75% RDF + 4 ton/ha FYM + Rhizobium, and T7: 50% RDF + 4 ton/ha FYM + Rhizobium) and three replications was used to set up the experiment. The use of 100% RDF + 4 ton/ha FYM + Rhizobium resulted in a significant increase in plant height, number of nodules per plant, number of pods per plant, number of branches per plant, grain yield, stover yield and biological yield.
