Preparation and standardization of Ayurvedic Triphala-Guggul Vati

Abstract

The present work deals with preparation and standardization of Triphala-Guggul for treatment of digestive patients. After evaluating crucial macroscopically and microscopical parameters, Vati’s were formulated. Vat’s evaluated from necessary post-evaluation parameters. Average weight variation was found to be 0.5±0.55. Hardness and thickness were found to be 4.3kg/cm² and 5.0±0.5 mm.% Friability and disintegration time were observed 0.7% and 24±26 min. Total ash, acid soluble ash and water-soluble ash values are 7.65%, 4.30% and 47.6% respectively. Loss of drying and alcohol soluble extractive values were 8.02% and 35.21%. The formulated Triphala-Guggul Vati is novel formulation and values of evaluations parameters are within the pharmacopeial standards.
