Late-onset group b streptococcal disease via contaminated breast milk: Case report

Abstract

Group B Streptococcus is a significant cause of infection in newborns and young infants. Late-onset disease (7 to 89 days of life) occurs less frequently and is associated with maternal, hospital, or community contact. Although rare, infection through contaminated breast milk should be considered in the presence of late-onset or recurrent Group B Streptococcus disease.
