Attitude of farmers towards farmer producer organization in Patan block of Jabalpur district (M.P)
Abstract
An FPO (Farmer Producer Organisation) is an object or institution formed by farmers with the aim of ensuring better income and livelihoods by improving their bargaining power, accessing inputs at lower costs, and collectively marketing their produce. Attitude is ‘a psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular entity with some degree of favour or disfavour’. The attitude defines how fast a person achieves a goal or how well he acquires skills and knowledge. An ex-post-facto research was conducted in the purposively selected Patan block of Jabalpur in which 120 randomly selected farmers who were also members of FPO constituted the sample. The data were collected with the help of structured interview schedule by personally interviewing the selected respondents. The data were analysed using statistical tools such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation etc. The findings of the study show that most of the respondents surveyed had moderately favourable to favourable attitude towards farmer producer organizations. The variables age, land holding and occupation were found to have non significant correlation with attitude whereas the variables gender, education, annual income, decision making ability, achievement motivation, social participation, social media and training had positive and significant relationship with attitude of farmers towards FPOs.
