Adoption of mechanization of farmers towards “promotion of agricultural mechanization for In-Situ management of crop residue” scheme in Haryana

Abstract

The main aim of this study to assess the socio economic and adoption of mechanization of farmers towards the in-situ crop residue management scheme. The present study was carried out in two districts of Haryana state. Two districts Bhiwani and Kaithal, covering two blocks of each district and two villages from each block with random sample techniques with 200 respondents. Majority of respondents were from 36-50 years of age, educated up to graduate level. Results revealed that in Bhiwani majority of respondents were given Ist rank to Rotavator with weighted mean score 2.84 whereas in Kaithal Ist rank was allotted to rank to Zero Till Seed-cum- Fertilizer drill machine with weighted mean score 2.77. In both the districts adoption of mechanization of respondents had positive and significant correlation with education of respondents, land holding, family economic status. In Bhiwani (Western zone), respondents had positive and significant correlation with change proneness (r= 0.292*) and economic motivation (r= 0.326*). In Kaithal (Eastern zone) only positive and significant correlation between adoption of respondents with mass media (r= 0.239*). Study concludes majority of respondents both the districts fully adopted the mechanization.
