Bilateral subconjunctival fat prolapse: A case report

Abstract

Subconjunctival Orbital Fat Prolapse is a rare benign and asymptomatic condition with primary issue being the cosmetic concerns. Surgical excision is simple and cosmetically satisfying, but a histopathological evaluation is required to rule out any malignancy. We report the case of a 74-year-old male who has had bilateral subconjunctival orbital fat prolapse for 3 years. The prolapsed orbital fat was successfully removed for cosmetic purposes, and histopathologic analysis confirmed the lesion’s benign nature. This case underlines the importance of early detection, thorough excision, and proper follow-up to prevent complications, recurrence, and the development of related symptoms.
